Farmers can access up to $100,000 in funding to implement Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs) that will contribute to on-farm sequestration of carbon and reduce greenhouse gases through nitrogen management, cover cropping or rotational grazing.

The On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) is part of the Government of Canada’s Agricultural Climate Solutions, a multi-stream program to help farmers tackle climate change.

Perennia Food and Agriculture Corporation will be implementing the fund to help farmers adopt these practices in Nova Scotia. Training for farmers and agronomists will also be offered over the three-year program, which ends in March 2028.

The first step in applying is to complete a program pre-screening form, found on the OFCAF funding page. Once the pre-screening is submitted and reviewed, a link to the on-line application form will be sent.
